“Occupy Till I Come” — Jesus

Jesus is known as many things: Son of Man and Son of God; Son of David; Savior, Healer, Sanctifier, and Coming King; God Incarnate; Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace; Prophet, Priest, and King; the Author and Finisher of our Faith; the Bright Morning Star.

He’s been called a Revolutionary, an Itinerant Jewish Rabbi, a Feminist, a Socialist, a Communist, a Capitalist, an Anarchist, a Therapist, a Great Communicator, a Miracle Worker, “just another in a long line of Jewish Messiahs,” a Blasphemer, a Martyr-Style Leader, a Community Organizer, a Change Agent.

Jesus: Messiah, Non-Violent Direct Action Specialist

To me Jesus is the template against whom I measure my life. He is my example. He is more than just a good example.

I am guided by his life. He said, “Students  are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher.”  I want to “know him and the power of his resurrection, sharing his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.”

I want to be like Jesus when I die.

Occupy. Yup. But remember the saying used in NA and AA: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.”

About Ron Goetz

My first wife used to say, "There's nothing so sacred that Ron won't pick it apart." My desire to be a pastor -- that was a temperamental mismatch. She was so patient. If my birth mother had lived somewhere else, maybe I would've become a cold case detective. But I would have had to be J instead of a P, I think. And that mid-life reevaluation, starting adolescence as a GARB fundamentalist and transitioning to a non-theist, that gave me an unusual skill set.
