Loyalty: Spider’s Web, Titanic, or Original Design?

It took the Mormons and the Southern Baptists over a century to forsake much (but certainly not all) of their institutional racism. In rigid, authoritarian institutions, it takes multiple generations to sever the strands of the web. Many are bound by strong threads to be the spider’s next meal.  Our spiders will have fewer and fewer meals as the decades pass.

Some of you are primarily motivated by Loyalty, and you must be faithful to your most basic motivation. Captain Edward Smith went down with the Titanic. Many of his uniformed subordinates, and passengers, however, did not.

Survivor reports made later White Star ships better able to fulfill their intended mission, to do that for which they were originally designed.  It is possible to redirect our Loyalty impulse, and those of the people around us, toward other important objects.

Leading by example counts.

About Ron Goetz

My first wife used to say, "There's nothing so sacred that Ron won't pick it apart." My desire to be a pastor -- that was a temperamental mismatch. She was so patient. If my birth mother had lived somewhere else, maybe I would've become a cold case detective. But I would have had to be J instead of a P, I think. And that mid-life reevaluation, starting adolescence as a GARB fundamentalist and transitioning to a non-theist, that gave me an unusual skill set.

Agreed. New strands, with the same intended victims are still being weaved this very day, many by so called progressives who cloak ‘anti-antisemitism’ in the dangerously knee jerk, ill informed and historically inept shroud of doing good at the expense of others lives. People who could never be accused of racism are rushing to tear down the only walls of those holding out those who out number them thousands to one, and mostly in the name of one of the most destructive of forces- political correctness. Antisemitism has once again reared it’s ugly head in our universities, media and churches. There of course is no real dialog, just the same old judgmental, bigoted and ill-reasoned salt that all haters seem to sprinkle without thinking, at the banquets of hate. Of course what are a few Jews lives worth? Especially since they live in a neighborhood half a world away? Hate. Never new. Never improved. There’s nothing new under the sun.

Now, are you thinking about the left-wing Israeli Jews who believe that the Israeli government is waging an unjust campaign against the Palestinians? You know, the ones who object to Israeli Defense Forces killing Palestinian boys who are throwing rocks at them? So those liberal Jews are anti-Semitic. Hmmm.

I’m glad I found this site. It is a great place to help me be a better “Bible-thumping” liberal

So what are you thinking?
